The End...... and the new Beginning

Hi,
The Revolutionary War and the Solar System!  Quite a way to end the year.  Projects in these two areas will take our students almost to the last day of school.  We just had an honor's assembly where Fabian, Giselle, Ailyne, and Brenda were given Presidential Academic Awards.  I wish you could have been there because you would have seen excelling students from all grades being honored.  Also, did you hear that our school finished their undefeated soccer season by winning the championship?  What an awesome year!
Remember the most important thing you can do for your student this summer is to help them stay mentally sharp and growing.  Reading is a must.  Check out the programs at the library and win free stuff.  Go to sites like Coolmath.com and funbrain to practice math and other subjects in a fun way.  Your children are growing up so fast - give them your time.  Try to have one meal a day together.  One student told me the other day that his family was too busy to have family night together.  It's a cheap investment in your child's future.
Thank you for sharing your child with me this year.  Even though they will be in a different class, I will be there watching them and caring about them.  I want them to drop by and visit their old room and me as well.  If I can do anything for you or them please let me know.

I'M BACK ON MY BLOG AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS OF BEING SHUT OUT.

Well, are you surprised that I finally changed the December blog page.  I tried all of January and February to get into my page.  Either some technolgical fluke or my lack of ability wouldn't allow me to enter my own blog.  But today, March 14, I managed to access my page.

We are just 2 days away from Spring Break!  We are all so excited!  Today, we went on a bus over to Maryvale High School to run on their track.  We have some really fast students!

Your student just brought home his last progress report for the 3rd quarter report card. Can't believe we are almost ready to start the 4th quarter.  You should stop by and see our biography book reports.  They were done in scrapbooking form.  Our scrapbook has lots of famous people in it.

Most of our time now will be spent practicing for our reading, writing, and math AIMS tests coming up in April.  See you next month - providing the technology and I both get our act together.  Mrs. Wright

Its been a busy start to a new year for me.  I am loving my fifth grade class.  We have a total of 26 students.  18 of these students had perfect attendance for the 1st quarter!  What a awesome start to the year.  We were rewarded with a lunch party at Peter Piper.  Thank you Ms Stockton.

We have been working on division in math and the explorers in Social Studies.  The students are reading a book about every three weeks.  Reading is so important!  Now that I am back on my blog I will be adding things from time to time so check back and see what going on in our class.

Students, I usually put something special for you to do or see.  If you see this blog, let me know and I will reward you.   Until next time, Mrs. Wright

LOOK WHAT'S COMING!

First, spring break is coming March 21-25.  Have fun relaxing, spending time with your family and friends and READING, READING, READING.  Extra credit to anyone who brings in the title, author, and short summary of ANYTHING they read over break - or the source and short summary of any current events happening in our world.

Second, we are practicing for the Aims Tests which will be April 11-15.  Encourage your student to pay close attention in class and learn all they can about test taking.  The teachers have super test taking strategies and skills to teach them.

See you in April, Mrs. Wright
